GAH, A revolver with EXPLOSIVE AMMO?
I really, really, really want this.
And Deus Ex has traditionally been a PC franchise, but the new game has been adapted to work well with consoles --Not "dumbed down" per se. The closest thing I can think of to compare it to would be Fallout.
It's a prequel set 25 years before the first game, and the story is (mostly) self contained. You may see a DX1 character here and there but you don't need to play the other games to know what is going on.

The guys behind Oblivion and Fallout 3 are producing a game being made by the guys behind Deus Ex and Half-Life 2. That's some serious firepower.
I'll install it and play it after I beat Portal 2's SP and Co-op
And it's a Game for Windows Live title, so I can use my Xbox controller and unlock achievements!
