Not much you can really do in the first part.

Unless you walk around Omega/the Citadel doing random stuff.

Once you recruit Jack, it'll open the game up more. THEN YOU'LL START WORKING TOWARDS EVERYONE DYING.

BUT, don't give Liara the intel when you meet her! (the option says Let's go get the Shadow Broker or something) Save that for after the Suicide Mission!
