I'm thinking about using my Christmas money/fantasy football winnings on a TV. Any particular type/brand that you guys prefer?

i like my tv's the opposite of my women; large and flat.

other then that i'm not really picky about the brand. I'd just go with the biggest one you can afford.

I think it's all pretty reliable nowadays.

I got a Panasonic way back when on Joe's advice and I've never had a single problem out of it. Panasonic makes some good shit.

I've had bad experience with Sony and Philips shit tho.

I have some shit no name brand TV that I got a while back, I think when Oblivion came out for the 360, and I've never had any problems with it, either. I really want to get a new, bigger one, though.

LED is supposed to be great if you can afford. LCD is pretty much the standard nowadays.

Plasmas look better than LCDs but they usually pretty expensive and you gotta get through that burn in period.

I'd say LCD the safest bet. You're not worried about fighting games and refresh rates and other nonsense like that.

I looked up Panasonic's Plasmas and Vizio's LCDs. Panasonic's were half the price, which shocked me. Best Buy's website has a Panasonic 42" LCD for $600. 50" Plasma for $750. Every TV on Vizio's website in that size was at least $1000.

Well Plasma always looked better than LCD to me. Mine's pretty damn old tho. Chris has a newer panasonic plasma if ya wanted to ask him.

I'm fine with the $750. I could've researched myself, but I trust you guys more than most professionals.

It's worth getting 1080p for $750 rather than 720p for $630 right?

Ask Travis. I mine ain't 1080p so I don't know if the difference is even negligible.

Vizio. Same quality as upper end TVs yet at a much better price.

Tarvis

Yeah, that's right.

If I had a choice between a 1080p TV versus a 720p TV that is larger for the same price, I would probably pick the 720p TV as the quality, at least in games, is almost negligible. For movies, I dunno 1080p is nice.

I don't know if I believe the cheaper TVs are just as good as the higher end ones. I had a cheaper brand of TV before my Samsung, and it didn't have very many features and comparing the picture quality there is a vast difference. The price difference between the two was about $200. I'm certainly much happier with the Samsung.
